A Good Man's Grave Is His Sabbath
Nick Waplington

A collection of Nick Waplington's earliest photographic work between 1979 and 1986. The book jumps between two of Waplington’s projects, Surf Riot and Made Glorious Summer. Surf Riot, which was shot during a riot at the Surf Pro Championships of 1986 in California, when hundreds of young surfers rampaged, for no apparent reason, overturning police cars and setting the beach alight. Made Glorious Summer traces Waplington’s teenage years living across Surrey and West Sussex during the Thatcher years when British post-punk youth were politically active and the marches and protests would quickly turn into riots.
