Search & Destroy #2
Softcover | First edition | Out of print
Founded by V. Vale while working at City Lights Bookstore, Search & Destroy began with a $100 grant from Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Allen Ginsberg to document the emerging punk movement. Printed in a raw, cut-and-paste tabloid format, the zine featured interviews, photography, and underground music coverage.
Issue #2 includes interviews with Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Devo, The Clash, and the Weirdos, capturing the raw energy and ethos of the late 1970s punk scene. The zine ran for 11 issues between 1977 and 1979 before evolving into RE/Search, expanding its focus to broader countercultural themes.
