Lester B. Morrison (Alec Soth) & Brad Zellar
Hardcover (spiral binding) | second edition | 118 pages
Published by Little Brown Mushroom, 2012.
Zellar pieces together the story of Lester B. Morrison, a legendary recluse washed up in the shadow of the Pine Bend Refinery in the Minnesota exurbs — a landscape of off-ramps, warehouses and SRO hotels he calls "The Kingdom of Nah." Drawn from conversations, a sketchy paper trail, Morrison's MMPI psychiatric evaluation results and a shoebox of nearly 200 photographs taken with a disposable camera. Morrison's initials — and those of Little Brown Mushroom — are shared by the book's publisher Alec Soth, and whether the photographer-subject is real or a fictional alter ego remains deliberately unresolved. 68 photographs. This second edition is distinguished from the first by its brown cover (the first edition had a green cover).
