This ambiguity, coupled with the everyday, almost mundane subject matter, challenges the distinctions between fiction and non-fiction, the real and the unreal. It evokes a sense of familiarity and intimacy, suggesting that the scenes captured could belong to anyone—be it you, me, or the girl next door. These photographs were central to two exhibitions curated for the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles and MAK Vienna, exploring the thematic intersections of identity, place, and representation.
